Bedtime stories about good habits and responsibility

Stories about responsibility, honesty, patience, tidying up, handwashing, trying new foods and teeth. Personalised picture books for ages 2–8.

Why read stories about good habits?

Habits are easier to build when a child has already seen them work for someone they like. These stories cover the daily ones, like tidying, washing hands, brushing teeth and trying new food, and the bigger ones such as telling the truth and planning ahead.

Several are fresh takes on classic fables (the ant and the grasshopper, the tortoise and the hare), retold for young children.

Questions to ask after the story

A minute of talk after the last page is where a story turns into a conversation. Try one of these:

  1. What did the hero learn?
  2. Which habit from the story could we try this week?
  3. Why do you think it matters?

Tips on asking questions without turning bedtime into a quiz are in our guide to reading aloud.
